Wipro Technologies is now sharing information about fake resumes to peer companies in the software industry.Fake resumes have been ruling the job scenario for ages.Last year a tv news channel from Kerala has exposed a firm making fake certificates in an investigative sting operation.The journalist acted as youth trying for job abroad and got a class X certificate.The frauds did a high quality of workmanship.They even did some special effects on the certificates to look it older.Later raids from police revealed fake certificates of Engineering ,Medicine and Law from almost all universities in Kerala. 

Here what we mean by Fake resumes is the trend in presenting false information in your resume.For example it can be like you are stating that you hold a degree you never attended a class of.Claiming experiences and false proofs of hefty last drawn salary, all comes under fraud.HR Managers say that a good percentage of resumes they receive have some sort of misrepresentations.Either the resume has a wrong job title or it is claiming Skillsets which never exists.

Measure like the one from Wipro is commendable but it should not vindicate right and honest persons.Prashant is one such person having a bad experience with his previous employer against such moves by companies." I was exploited and was paid Rs 2000 per month for 18 months in a startup company in Bangalore.Once i made a decision to quit, the management informed me that they were not able give experience certificate or payslip.So I need to make a fake experience certificate and today i am happy working in another small software company in the next street for Rs 15000"says Prashant.

The other part of the story is that there are some recruiting agencies who are aiding people in manipulating their resumes.In Kottayam there is a software development company which is an expert in this field.This group is viewing 'private limited' as a product they could sell.So they setup a small software development centre which is running well.Now if you are an unemployed you can approach them, they do have a recruiting wing also.If you give them money they get you a proof that you are an employee of their firm.Now you can do some short term course at their computer training institute after that you can get placed with the help of them in some company.

The move by Wipro is to maintain a database of  people with Fake resumes thay have come across.This database  is distributed to other companies in the informal association.Silently many companies like IBM, Wipro and Satyam are firing employed who got there on fake resumes.The database would blaklist several individuals and hundreds of recruiting agencies.

Nasscom is addressing this problem by making a registry of software professionals so that blacklisting can be done easily.However professionals have shown lukewarm responses to these initiatives.This is where background checks are necessary.Companies who cannot spend on conducting background checks are always prone to fake resumes.
