ProjectsProject Name GENERAL MOTORS CONSUMER FINANCE (GMCF), Authorizations Client GM Florida Duration DEC 2005 to till date Project Description The Project GMCF, which was a maintenance project, deals with providing Business Card services to its clients. There are different subsystems within this GMCF like APPS, Statements, Remittance, Authorizations, Collections and Settlements to mention a few. Authorization is a 24*7 system and it supports Sales, Payments, Returns, OTB requests. Authorization should process the request within 2 seconds. Authorizations main function is to approve, decline or refer a cardholder based on different criteria’s provided by the Risk group. It supports both real-time authorization (transactions from card readers, internet, etc), which comes through POS (Tandem) and batch authorization, which comes directly to mainframe via batch files. It’s used by Consumer accounts, Business Revolving (BRC) accounts and Commercial line (CML) accounts. Authorization maintains the real-time OTB (Open-to-Buy) of the cardholder and thus don’t allow the cardholder to charge over his OTB. Point of sale (POS) - POS provides clients with ability to process sales transactions, credit applications and retrieve accounts’ information through a common format, regardless of the POS platform being used. This is made possible through the se of ACCESS software, POS devices (Hypercom, Verifone, etc.) and the router system (Tandem). The ACCESS software uses a dial-up async protocol, which is handled by a MCI communication protocol converter designed by GE, which transmits information to the POS router system. The POS devices have the ability to authorize sales and returns, in addition to the ability to process credit applications, pre-approved applications, application inquiries, account inquiries, account look-ups, lost & stolen and replacement cards. The information send by the POS devices is received at the POS router, which is an online real-time system that interprets the data received from the client, and sends them to the appropriate Card Services system, viz. GENASYS, AUTHORIZATIONS, FIREBALL or CASS for processing. After the appropriate system processes the data, the POS router will return the processed information back to the client.
