The government is now implementng the women component of the Sports Scholarship Scheme for the year 2008-09.

1. 50 scholarships worth Rs.18,000/-

AGE

• Women above 19 years of age.

Unemployed women will be provided the scholarship securing first/second or third position in individual events only in the senior national champions organized by the recognized national federation.

2. 10 scholarships of Rs.10,000/-

QUALIFICATION

• Candidate must have Master’s Degree in Physical Education.
•  Candidates Persuing M.Phil/Ph.D in Physical Education from any reputed college/university in India can also apply.

3. 20 scholarships of Rs.7500/-

QUALIFICATION

• Candidate must have Master’s Degree in Physical Education.
• Candidate Persuing Diploma in Sports Coaching from any one of the  Academic centres of the SAI can also apply.

PRIORITY DISCIPLINES

• Major priority disciplines includes Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Judo, Lawn Tennis, Rowing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
• Other disciplines include Billiards & Snooker, Bowling, Carrom, Chess, Equestrian, Fencing, Golf, Kayaking and Canoeing, Karate, Powerlifting, Squash, Taekwondo, Wushu & Yachting.

HOW TO APPLY

• Candidates may write to ED(A), SAI, NS NIS, Patiala for the prescribed application form.
• Last date of receipt of aaplication will be 28th February,2009.
